BBC starts Freeview HDTV Test

The BBC has launch a trial of high definition TV broadcasts on Freeview in the Kent area. The official roll out of HDTV programming is scheduled to start as early as 2009 though the initial transmission will be in the Granada region. read more

Digital UK: Independent shops give best advice for digital switchover

A recent survey by Digital UK, the organisation that is leading the digital switchover, has found that independent retailers provided a better service to customers than multiple stores such as Comet and Currys. Digital UK's mystery shoppers found that"the standard of advice in independents was high".

Freesat

The BBC and ITV have announce a new satellite service called Freesat. The new service will be available to 98% of homes in the UK, including the notoriously bad reception areas of Axmouth, Beer and Branscombe. The service will offer a number of channels including high deffinition channels from BBC and ITV. The HD receiver from Humax will cost£149.99 and standard installation will cost £80 which includes a dish if you dont allready have one for Sky and upto 5 mtrs of cable. Initially, receivers are in short supply but we can take pre orders for the service. read more

Starting in 2008 and ending in 2012, TV services in the UK will go completely digital, TV region by TV region. This process is called digital switchover.The UK?s old television broadcast signal (known as ?analogue?) is being switched off and replaced with a ?digital? signal.
